The Early Experiments (2004–2005)
The earliest Roblox logos were playful and rough, built at a time when the product was still being defined. These wordmarks feel exploratory: varying typography, colors, and outlines as the team searched for a recognizable identity.
The Classic Block Wordmark (2006–2015)
With the public launch in 2006, Roblox settled into a strong, blocky wordmark. It was bold, angular, and unmistakably “game-like.” This logo became synonymous with a decade of growth, the rise of user-generated games, and the first big wave of the Roblox community.
The Flat Update (2015–2017)
Around 2015, the wordmark was simplified. The 3D shading was removed, edges were sharpened, and the logo became flatter and cleaner. The goal was simple: be readable everywhere, from small app icons to large marketing banners.
The Tilted Square Era (2017–2022)
In 2017, Roblox introduced the tilted square as a defining symbol. It first appeared as the “O” in the wordmark and later became a standalone icon. The shape suggested movement, creation, and building blocks — a visual shorthand for how Roblox works.
The 2022 Refresh (2022–Today)
The most recent refresh kept the tilted square but tuned everything else: lighter typography, improved spacing, and a more circular second “o” for balance. The result is a logo that feels modern, flexible, and easy to deploy across products and devices.
What the Tilted Square Represents
The tilt is not random. A perfect square would be static, while the angled square implies motion and possibility. It ties back to Roblox’s core idea: give people tools, let them build, and keep the platform in motion.
